San Francisco, California—October 26, 2001—Major, Hagen & Africa has recruited James G. Potter to serve as general counsel of Del Monte Foods Company, based in San Francisco. Mr. Potter previously served as general counsel of Provident Mutual Insurance and The Prudential Banks. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School (J.D. 1982) and The University of Chicago (B.A. 1978).

Del Monte Foods Company is the largest manufacturer and distributor of canned fruits and vegetables in the United States, with net annual of $1.5 billion. Introduced in 1892, the Del Monte brand is the best-known brand among canned food products in the United States. The company’s brands include Del Monte, Contadina, S&W and Sunfresh, among others.
