Major, Lindsey & Africa Launches Partner Compensation Survey

SAN RAFAEL, California – June 7, 2010 - Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, announced today the launch of the 2010 MLA Partner Compensation Survey. The Survey is being sent to more than 30,000 law firm partners across the United States. It represents the most comprehensive effort undertaken to identify ranges of partner compensation and the criteria law firms use in determining partner compensation. The Survey, which is completely anonymous and confidential, was developed by Jeffrey Lowe, Managing Partner in MLA’s Washington, D.C. office. ADF Research, an independent marketing and opinion research company, is conducting the survey and compiling the data.

“We are very excited about the Survey,” says Lowe. “Never before has any firm attempted to gather partner compensation data on such an enormous scale. The most common question asked of us by partners who are looking to move, as well as Managing Partners who are looking to hire lateral partners, is whether the proposed compensation is market appropriate. The compilation of this data will be extremely valuable in helping to answer that question.”
