Senior Counsel - FERC
Spectra Energy has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to recruit a Senior Counsel - FERC to its corporate legal team located in its Houston, Texas headquarters. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for advising the company on tariff, certificate and general rate related matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission affecting the various pipelines and storage companies/assets owned and operated by Spectra Energy. This position will actively support clients involved in gas transmission, storage, distribution and the company’s growth projects. He/she will be responsible for providing legal advice on regulatory compliance and will participate in complex legal matters and projects; provide written and oral legal advice to clients; anticipate and guard against legal risks involving the organization; deliver timely and quality legal services to clients with minimal supervision; and manage outside legal resources. A minimum of five years as a U.S. licensed attorney with experience practicing before the FERC or state utility commission(s) regulating natural gas is required. Ideal candidates will have experience with natural gas ratemaking, tariff and certificate/siting issues. Commercial contracting experience is preferred, but not required. Candidates with electric power experience rather than natural gas will be considered.
