Bio
Janet Markoff, Partner and Office Practice Leader of MLA’s Partner Practice Group in New York, began her career in legal search in 1986. Since that time, she has advanced the careers of some of the most highly regarded attorneys in the United States.
She has placed groups and individual partners in a variety of practice areas including corporate, litigation, IP, real estate, labor & employment, bankruptcy and trusts & estates. She has also assisted in effectuating a law firm merger. Janet has distinguished herself as a determined advocate for candidates and clients alike and is considered to have a gift for bringing the right people together with the right opportunities at the right time.
Janet’s philosophy in contingent search is that a search consultant can only be effective when focusing equally on the needs of the attorney and those of the client. Her search strategy is predicated on long-term relationships and the belief that every candidate should be in an environment that maximizes his or her strengths.
Janet graduated from Tufts University with a double major in political science and French and attended La Sorbonne and L’Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris, France. She and her husband, Alan Momeyer, vice president of human resources at Loews Corporation, have two teenage children, Lily and Jack, and reside in Greenwich Village, New York City and always will. Janet is vice president of her co-op board, a grade representative at the United Nations International School and proudly sponsors her children’s sports teams.
