Supporting the Culture and Values of the Asian Pacific American Community

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The month celebrates and pays tribute to the contributions generations of Asian Pacific Americans have made to American history, society and culture. We hope you will learn about their missions and programs, and discover ways to support them through your charitable donations and volunteer time.

Ascend - Largest nonprofit Pan-Asian organization for business professionals in North America. Reaches 60,000 people with 30 student chapters and 17 professional chapters located both the United States and Canada around major business hubs and educational institutions. Offers professional development and career enhancement programs designed to cultivate Pan-Asian talent.

Asian American Advertising Federation - Comprised of Asian-American advertising principals, media, advertisers and strategic partners. Mission to grow the Asian-American advertising and marketing industry, raise public awareness of the Asian-American community and further professionalism within the industry.

Asian American Architects and Engineers Association - Provides a platform for empowering professionals working in the built environment in personal and professional growth, business development and networking and leadership in the Asian American community.

Asian American Business Development Center - Assists Asian-American businesses in strengthening their capacities to compete in the mainstream marketplace, to expand business opportunities and to promote general recognition of the contribution of Asian-American businesses to the general economy.

Asian American Government Executives Network (AAGEN) - Non-profit, non-partisan organization of the highest rank Asian American and Pacific Islander career and appointed executives, foreign service officers, legislative and judiciary members and military officers in government.

Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund - First legal rights organization on the East Coast serving Asian Americans. Founded by a group of lawyers, law students and community activists who believed that the law should be used as a tool to achieve social and economic justice for Asian Americans and all Americans.

Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA) - Strives to advance the mental health and well-being of Asian American communities through research, professional practice, education and policy.

Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) - Promotes a fair and equitable society for all by working for civil and human rights and empowering Asian American & Pacific Islanders and other underserved communities. AAJC envisions a fair and equitable society for all that ensures civil and human rights for Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders and other communities.

Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce - Mission is to facilitate business relationships among Asian and United States based companies and to promote the economic advancement of Asian Pacific Americans.

Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) - Works with communities to mobilize in order to influence policy and to strengthen their community-based organizations to achieve health equity for Asian Americans across the country.

Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholars (APIA Scholars) - is the nation’s largest nonprofit provider of college scholarships for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Creates opportunities for students to access, complete and succeed after post-secondary education; thereby developing future leaders who will excel in their careers, serves as role models in their communities and will ultimately contribute to a more vibrant America. Asian Women in Business- Nonprofit membership organization created to assist Asian-American women in understanding their entrepreneurial potential.

Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) - Founded to address issues of discrimination against people of Japanese ancestry residing in the United States. Largest and one of the oldest Asian American organization in the United States.

Korean American Coalition (KAC) - Nonprofit service, education and advocacy organization that facilitates Korean-American participation in civic, legislative and community affairs.

National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association - Promotes the mental health and well-being of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. Strives to raise awareness of the role of mental health in an individual’s health and well-being.

National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) - Monitors legislative development and judicial appointments, promotes Asian-Pacific American political leadership, advocates for equal opportunity in education and in the workplace, works to eliminate violence against APAs and builds coalitions on these issues and others within the legal profession and the community at-large.

National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) - Federation of LGBTQ Asian American, South Asian, Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander organization. NQAPIA seeks to build the capacity of local LGBT Asian American and Pacific Islander organization, invigorate grassroots organizing, develop leadership and challenge homophobia, racism and anti-immigrant bias.

NetIP North America (Network of Indian Professionals) - Serves as a voice for the South Asian Diaspora and to provide a vehicle for South Asian professionals to enhance the communities in which they work and live. Areas of focus for the organization include economic growth and security, cultural awareness and preservation, family needs and education.

South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA) - Seeks to strengthen the rapidly growing South Asian legal community with a recognized and trusted forum for professional growth and advancement, and promotes the civil rights and access to justice for the South Asian community.
