Carrie Davenport, a Director in our In-House Counsel Recruiting, works with organizations of all sizes, including corporate and institutional legal departments, to identify, recruit and place candidates in a broad range of legal and compliance roles – from corporate counsel and general counsel to C-level ethics and compliance leaders.
As a former law firm partner, Carrie is adept at quickly becoming conversant with a client’s industry and business structure. She is experienced in advising in-house lawyers and executive-level decision-makers and possesses substantial knowledge regarding the ever-evolving landscape of legal and business issues facing corporate legal departments. She brings those resources, together with an innate commitment to first-class client service and a passion for the human side of law practice, to her work with MLA.
Carrie lives in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. Outside of the office, she can be found chasing after her exuberant toddler or seeing live music, preferably outside. She is a strong believer in social justice and an advocate for increased access to high-quality early childhood education, having served for several years on the board of a local nonprofit Montessori school.
Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Carrie was a partner at a commercial litigation and bankruptcy boutique in Chicago. As a senior client-facing attorney, she worked closely with in-house legal departments and corporate decision-makers to manage day-to-day business challenges, as well as more significant issues and active litigation.
During her time in practice, Carrie was recognized as an Illinois Rising Star® and an “Emerging Lawyer” in the field of commercial litigation. She began her career at Weil in New York and practiced for several years at Winston & Strawn in Chicago. Before law school, she worked as a legal assistant at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
