As a Managing Director with our Associate Practice Group, Judy St. John specializes in placing attorneys of all levels in top-tier national, international, regional and boutique law firms. She has participated in several Boston law school conference calls with recent graduates to discuss the market and offer some guidance. She has also worked closely with an IP partner from a Boston firm to co-author an article for the publication "Computing and the Law" and host a podcast focused on engineers thinking about change opportunities at law firms.
Judy came to Major, Lindsey & Africa with more than 25 years of law firm and legal recruiting experience. She began her career as a recruiting manager in the Boston office of Gaston & Snow, one of Boston's largest national law firms. For 13 years, she held the position of director of recruiting at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP, a full-service Boston law firm with approximately 400 attorneys. Her primary focus was working directly with the managing partner, department chairs and hiring partners on discrete firm projects. Judy was also responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the firm's hiring programs, which included lateral hiring, fall recruiting and summer programs. Following the dissolution of the firm, Judy became a senior legal consultant and top biller at Hoffman Recruiters in Boston, with a focus in confidential, direct placement of practice groups, partners and associate attorneys.
