Erasing the Stigma—Brad Baum

Telehealth has become a common modality for accessing medical professional across the spectrum of healthcare, including mental health providers. In this episode of Erasing the Stigma, Mark Yacano chats with Brad Baum, venture capitalist with Lightbank, about the evolution of technology in the field and how the digitization of therapy has lowered the barrier to access—and hopefully the stigma. 


Brad Baum
is an investor at Lightbank, an early-stage VC firm based in Chicago. He spends time evaluating new investment opportunities and working with founders of early-stage portfolio companies.

A University of Michigan graduate, Brad began his career learning from and investing alongside prolific entrepreneurs turned investors. Initially, in Detroit at Detroit Venture Partners with Dan Gilbert (Quicken Loans Founder & Owner of the Cavs) and now in Chicago at Lightbank with Eric Lefkofsky (Groupon & Tempus founder). Previously, Brad spent time at an international VC based in China, where he worked on building their U.S. presence and spent time traveling to China to help portfolio companies scale internationally.

Outside of work, Brad is passionate about mental health, ending youth homelessness, and prison reform. Brad actively volunteers with nonprofits addressing these issues and serves on the board of Covenant House and the associate board of Defy Ventures. Brad is also involved with The Twenty Minute VC and is an active Kairos Fellow
