Amazon HQ Looks Like Windfall for Washington Area Law Firms

Sam Skolnik BNA.COM

Amazon’s selection of Arlington, Va., as the site of one of its new headquarters will spur Washington law firms to innovate as competition will be fierce to get the tech behemoth’s business.

Right about now, law firms are “trying to figure out new ways to get more business from them,” Jeffrey Lowe, a Washington-based global law firm practice leader for Major, Lindsey & Africa, a prominent legal recruiter, told Bloomberg Law.

Industry watchers expect a bolstered demand for regulatory, government contracting and legislative work. Although the bulk of in-house counsel work will likely stay on the West Coast, there will be a bump in that work in Washington as well, they say.
