Kate Murtagh is managing director for sustainable investing and the chief compliance officer of Harvard Management Company (HMC). As managing director, she is responsible for designing and implementing HMC’s sustainable investing program across all asset classes. As CCO, Kate is responsible for regulatory and legal matters relating to HMC’s investment activities.

Prior to HMC, Kate was a partner at Goodwin Procter in Boston. She was named a 2017 “Leader in the Law” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly for her innovative work in sustainable investing and a 2018 “Top Mind” by Compliance Week. Kate earned her B.S. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and her JD from Cornell Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of the Cornell Law Review.
