Between the Legal Lines — Virginia Llewellyn

Virginia Llewellyn never set out to be a serial first GC for companies but she has embraced the challenge every time the opportunity has come along. Virginia chats with Andrea Bricca about how the stars aligned for her landing her current role, what it’s been like to lead during a pandemic and what she envisions the road ahead looks like in this episode of Between the Legal Lines.

Between the Legal Lines · An Interview with Virginia Llewellyn

Virginia Llewellyn is the General Counsel at goop, the modern lifestyle brand founded and helmed by Gwyneth Paltrow. In her role, Virginia oversees the legal, people operations and quality & compliance teams.

This is the third time she has served as a company’s first General Counsel with responsibility for building the legal function from the ground up. Prior to joining goop, Virginia served as General Counsel for a Los Angeles-based beauty brand incubator, a high growth jewelry brand that scaled from start-up to $250M in revenue in just four years and a company in the luxury car collector market where the legal team supported the production and expansion of large-scale lifestyle events and more than 100 hours of live television annually. She started her career as a litigator at a large Pacific Northwest law firm and first went in house at a tech startup in Seattle in the early 2000s.

Virginia is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law and completed an Executive MBA program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She is an active member of the SoCal Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
