Brian Burlant brings to Major, Lindsey & Africa more than 15 years of experience as a legal recruiter and 19 years as an attorney, including as general counsel for a successfully IPO’d emerging technology company and in domestic and international in-house roles with Avon Products and Times Mirror. Brian came to MLA after operating his own recruiting firm and serving as a director at another leading legal search firm in New York. His approach is characterized by partnering with clients to truly understand their culture, organization and strategy to find candidates that fit in a complete, holistic way.
Brian’s placements reflect the breadth of his domestic and international legal experience, having counseled C-suites on matters ranging from securities regulation, corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions and joint ventures to IT, privacy, real estate, employment and product licensing, including Avon’s global Olympics sponsorship.
Brian’s in-house recruitment experience includes placements into leading Fortune 500s, bulge bracket commercial and investment banks, emerging companies, and leading private funds such as TPG and Magnetar. His extensive law firm placement experience encompasses numerous partner and group placements across the AmLaw 100.
Brian frequently organizes and hosts forums for in-house as well as law firm counsel on topics of importance, including building an in-house legal department, launching an IPO and managing information security breaches. He regularly publishes on recruitment and talent management trends and is a source for several leading industry publications.
Brian’s community service has included serving as a team volunteer at Ronald McDonald House New York and as a weekly instructor at The George Jackson Academy in downtown Manhattan, a non-profit school founded to serve academically capable boys of all incomes from across New York City’s underserved neighborhoods.
