As a Director – Candidate Development, Laughlin Cutler helps attorneys and other legal professionals with finding interim, project-based and temp-to-perm roles within law firms and corporations throughout the Midwest.Laughlin has lived in many different cities, including DC, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, and loves exploring new places. She was a member of her high school and college crew teams and has enjoyed skiing since the age of two. In her spare time, she enjoys going to see live music, hiking, paddle boarding, spin classes, and trying new restaurants.
Laughlin originally joined Major, Lindsey & Africa in 2015 as a senior administrator for the Interim Legal Talent team. In this role, she assisted with sourcing attorney and paralegal candidates, planned candidate networking events, performed contractor employment onboarding, and provided ongoing support for HR and payroll matters.
Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Laughlin was a senior associate – global employer services with BDO USA. She provided client support for change in control activities by performing analyses in compliance with 280-G regulations, including review of employment contracts, stock option agreements, offer letters, and other compensation/benefits agreements. She also conducted pre-acquisition due diligence on HR policies and processes to evaluate client risk profile, report key issues, and benchmark job positions prior to change in control. Before that, she was a corporate tax associate with Clifton Douglas. Laughlin began her legal career as a law clerk with Integrys Business Support. Prior to law school, Laughlin worked at Ernst & Young in their Transaction Advisory Group in both their New York and Chicago offices.
