As a Director in our Partner Practice Group, Michael McGinnis represents and places partners and groups in global, national, regional and local law firms in who are contemplating lateral moves.

Originally from the Midwest city of Dayton, Ohio, Michael now lives in the South Bay of Los Angeles with his wife and two sons.

Michael joined Major, Lindsey & Africa in 2020 as a Director-Client Development for Interim Legal Talent, where he worked closely with law firms and corporations to help them identify legal talent solutions that will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their teams.

Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Michael worked on multi-million and multi-billion-dollar contracts with the federal government. He most recently worked with the Los Angeles Air Force Base leading procurement negotiations. He also spent ten years negotiating major contracts and advising athletes within the MLB and NBA systems, first with Pierce and Associates Sports Management and then more recently through his own consulting firm Empowerment Sports Group.

Michael’s experience working with athletes led him to writing “GPS Guide for Athletes and Those who Surround Them,” the quintessential manual to guide not only athletes and those who support them but anyone looking to make their break in professional athletics.
