As a former member of the Kentucky Wildcats, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings, Otis is an avid football fan and relentless fantasy football manager. In his spare time, he enjoys practicing yoga, working out, taking improv comedy classes, nursing his top 2% ranking on Madden NFL Football, taking advantage of Austin’s live music scene, volunteering and reading self-improvement books.
Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Otis served as the general counsel of Player's Health, a tech start-up focused on selling discounted insurance to sports organizations that increase athlete health and safety through the use of Player's Health's free risk management platform. In this role, he managed intellectual property protection, oversaw data privacy and securities compliance, and interpreted complex laws, regulations and corporate governance best practices.
Before attending law school, Otis spent six years playing professional football. Following his career as a defensive end, he attended law school at the University of Kentucky and then practiced trademark, copyright, corporate, data privacy and securities law at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP (Cincinnati) before moving to Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP (Austin) and focusing on technology transactions.In addition to his role as a legal recruiter, Otis spends time speaking publicly on sports performance and wellness enhancement related to bio-electromagnetic energy regulation; mentoring at-risk youths, athletes, professionals and startup founders; and building Airbnb businesses for himself and others.
