NEGOTIATION AND GENDER
Major, Lindsey & Africa’s law firm partner and general counsel surveys have consistently found that women lawyers are likely to be paid less than their male peers. Reasons for this include women’s reluctance to negotiate and tendency to lowball their asking salary. Women may also face more of a social penalty for being assertive when they negotiate.
In this interactive masterclass we will explore why negotiation matters; common mistakes made by negotiators and how to avoid them; gender influences on negotiating including exploring and busting the common stereotypes about women as negotiators; and the 5 steps of brilliant negotiators.
