FROM LITIGATOR TO BUSINESS LEADER
Susan will talk about her less travelled path from litigation partner to CIO of a major litigation fund, addressing some of the challenges she encountered along the way. She will also talk about some parts of the transition that have been easier than anticipated, encouraging lawyers to think more broadly and confidently about their skill sets and how they can be applied to the wider business world.
Susan Dunn, Harbour Litigation Funding co-founder, has been described by Litigation Funding magazine as the ‘Grand Dame’ of litigation funding because of her extensive experience in this area. She has originated and managed more than 150 litigation funding cases, totalling over £3bn in claim value, since 2002. She has also featured in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 for her work in developing the use of litigation funding by lawyers, insolvency practitioners and claimants. Harbour has recently won company of the year 2015 in the City Wealth awards where Susan won Inspirational Woman of the Year for 2015. Susan qualified as a solicitor in 1992. She has worked as a commercial litigator in both the United Kingdom and the United States, where she was also a diplomat (Vice-Consul Investment) for the British Government. In 2006, Susan was pivotal in the publication of the UK’s Civil Justice Council report which endorsed litigation funding. In 2007, she co-founded Harbour.
