The Utter Uselessness of Typical Interviews and How to Improve the Process
Law firms like to use free-form, unstructured interviews in an attempt to “get to know” a potential candidate. However, interviewers have inherent cognitive biases, and they typically form strong, unwarranted impressions about interviewees that are likely wrong. These false impressions perpetuate biases and impede diverse hiring. This presentation will explore interview processes that firms can put into place to more accurately achieve hiring goals. We will also discuss interview methods used by law firms’ clients. You will leave this presentation with an interview strategy to hire the “best” candidates -from a productivity, cultural and diversity standpoint - for your organization’s goals.
