Labor and employment Fisher & Phillips announced Monday it has opened an office in New York City with four attorneys who depart Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart.
The New York office is the 33rd for Fisher Phillips, which represents employers in labor and employment matters.
Brian J. Gershengorn and Michael R. Marra, formerly of Ogletree, will be the co-managing partners of the New York office. Seth D. Kaufman and Melissa J. Osipoff, also formerly with Ogletree, will be associates in the office.
Roger Quillen, managing partner at Fisher Phillips, said the firm decided about two years ago that it was strategically important to open an office in New York City. Prior to that, the firm believed it could service the region from its offices in New Jersey and Philadelphia.
Quillen said the firm hired the recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa and acted relatively quickly to set up the new office.
