London, UK (1 October 2018) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced that the ISLEGAL team of Remco Abeln and Nick Spenkelink will join as Managing Consultants, effective 1 October 2018. ISLEGAL is a boutique legal search and interim firm based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The team joins Tanja Albers, Practice Leader of the In-House Practice Group for EMEA, expanding MLA’s offering on the continent.
“The ISLEGAL team naturally fits with our culture and offers us immediate access to a greater base of candidates for our active searches and more resources for our many clients on the continent,” said Brent Harris, Vice President for EMEA and APAC.
ISLEGAL specialises in identifying lawyers for permanent and interim placements within organisations across a wide variety of industries. The firm was started in 2013.
“Joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, is a natural step forward in the services ISLEGAL provides. This opportunity allows us to extend our services to a larger client base, offers our current clients a larger pool of potential candidates and provides our candidates wider national and international opportunities. MLA strengthens the future services of our team.” said Remco Abeln and Nick Spenkelink, founding partners of ISLEGAL.
Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Nick and his long-time partner Remco Abeln were partners at a listed firm for recruitment and led a boutique executive search firm in the Netherlands where they successfully placed many lawyers with their clients, both in-house and law firms in The Netherlands. Nick also advises lawyers advancing their career path. His master degree in law helps Nick to understand what drives the legal community and understand the various needs and development in the legal profession. Nick’s entrepreneurial spirit and determination drives him 24/7 in winning the market.
Back in 1996 Remco started recruiting candidates for a variety of positions and companies. As from 2001 Remco’s focus has been the recruitment of Legal Counsels. Together with his longstanding business partner Nick Spenkelink he sat up and successfully grew two legal Interim and Search firms before joining MLA in 2018.
