Private equity arm of an international bank / portfolio company: Engineering & Construction Management Services investing in the expansion of its portfolio of companies after being awarded a contract to finance, design and rebuild a well-known New York landmark.
Our client was investing in the expansion of its portfolio of companies after being awarded a contract to finance, design and rebuild a well-known New York landmark. Through a joint venture with a global general contractor and construction management firm, our client was the majority owner of the contract. In bidding on this project, they created a new entity with the need for legal support at the senior most level. Traditionally, the company had sought assistance of outsourced General Counsel services via law firms or a hired portfolio company General Counsel due to the nature and niche aspects of this work.
Major, Lindsey & Africa's Solutions Practice Group was able to offer our client a customized search for General Counsel-level candidates, based in New York, who possessed government contracting industry experience coupled with the executive knowhow to oversee the legal matters of a multi-billion dollar project. With our nationwide network of offices and candidates and footprint in New York, we were able to select former General Counsels that fit the competence, executive and cultural fit our client needed.
After an in-depth screening and interview process, our client selected to engage in a consulting arrangement with a former global construction management company GC with ties to the New York area and a background in project finance and government contracting. The successful candidate is now on a consulting assignment for the duration of the project (slated for four years).
