Life can throw a curveball at any moment, which Colin Wright learned the hard way when he was laid off not long after his company spun off from its parent company. In this episode of Bouncing Back, Colin talks to Rebecca Glatzer about navigating job loss and how taking little steps to reconnect with old colleagues, work with recruiters, and meet new people can open doors.
Colin Wright is an experienced senior in-house IP, Product & Technology counsel having worked for several software and high-tech companies. He holds his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech and worked as a software engineer before pivoting and attending law school at the University of Georgia.
Initially working as a patent lawyer with various IP boutique law firms, Colin went in-house as the first IP Counsel to work for Citrix Systems. He went on to work in IP, Compliance & Technology in-house roles with McKesson, Change Healthcare, and Landis+Gyr. He most recently served as Lead Product Counsel for San Francisco software company Twilio.
Colin and his husband, Toby, recently relocated from Atlanta, Georgia, to Palm Springs, California, to be closer to family. Colin is currently practicing his resilience performing a job search following a 17% company-wide layoff at Twilio in February 2023.
