Ron Wood, Former Big Law Litigator, joins Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Partner Practice Group

Hanover, MD (March 18, 2019) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced that Ronald E. Wood has joined as a managing director in the Partner Practice Group, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Ron will represent and place partners, counsel and partner groups into top global, national, regional and local law firms throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.

“We are thrilled Ron decided to join the Los Angeles Partner Practice Group,” said Laurie Caplane, senior executive director and managing partner of Law Firm Partner Search. “Ron brings a unique perspective to legal recruiting having been a litigator in large and small law firms, a federal enforcement lawyer and in-house counsel. We are excited that our partner candidates and law firm clients will benefit from Ron’s experience.”

Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Ron was a partner at Brown, White & Osborn, where he counseled and defended private investment managers, hedge funds, private equity funds and venture capital funds as well as securities industry and public company professionals. Prior to Brown, White & Osborn, Ron was a litigation partner at Proskauer LLP. He previously spent 10 years with the SEC's Division of Enforcement, conducting and directing investigations and follow-up civil and administrative proceedings, and six years in the law division at Morgan Stanley, where he was an executive director, responsible for managing the company’s Southern California legal staff and outside counsel in litigation and regulatory matters.

“In 31 years of practice, I interviewed, hired and mentored dozens of young, mid-career and senior lawyers. From my perch in large firms, small firms, in-house and at the SEC, I have witnessed lawyers smoothly integrate into and dramatically flame-out of new environments,” said Ron. “I look forward to bringing my learning and judgment from these many and varied experiences to help top tier candidates and clients find each other and make the kind of match that endures, achieving everyone’s ultimate business and personal objectives.”

In his 31 years of practice, Ron tried more than 50 cases in federal and state courts and private arbitration forums. He is a frequent panelist and author on securities regulatory and enforcement issues. Ron earned his J.D. and B.A. from Howard University.
