MLA Places Abhay Nadipuram as General Counsel at Care Initiatives

Hanover, MD (November 23, 2020) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Abhay Nadipuram as vice president, general counsel at Care Initiatives in West Des Moines, Iowa. The search was conducted by Robert Graff, partner in Atlanta; Joanna Herman, managing director in San Diego; and Amber Shockey, managing director in Dallas, all with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group.

Created in 1989, Care Initiatives is the largest single operator of quality nursing homes in Iowa, serving nearly 2,800 Iowans through 44 skilled nursing care locations, eight assisted living locations, three senior housing apartment locations and six hospice office locations.

Abhay will serve as the legal leader within Care Initiatives and a member of its executive leadership team, taking ownership of its legal strategy and leading its legal department while overseeing matters related to care, payor, contracting, employment and regulatory issues that may arise in day-to-day business.

Prior to joining Care Initiatives, Abhay served as vice president, government relations and legal counsel for Iowa Hospital Association (IHA), acting as in-house counsel for the association and representing 119 member hospitals at both the state and federal levels. Before joining IHA, Abhay was an attorney with Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors & Roberts, P.C. and the Principal Financial Group. He started his career as an associate with Lederer Weston Craig PLC.  

Abhay earned his J.D. from University of Iowa College of Law and his B.A. from Wartburg College.
