Cara Bain is a Director in our In-House Counsel Recruiting team, based in Basking Ridge, NJ. She works with global, national and regional companies and non-profits to identify general counsel, senior-level attorneys and compliance professionals to grow and enhance their legal teams.
Outside of facilitating perfect pairings between clients and candidates, Cara spends time with her husband and two young children, Scarlett and Milo. She lives an active lifestyle, including hiking and yoga, and reads as much as possible. She also has fun visiting farmer’s markets and loves to cook. Cara is a native New Yorker and takes advantage of living close to New York City.
Cara joined Major, Lindsey & Africa after serving as an Assistant General Counsel in Robinhood’s product and regulatory group. There, she provided regulatory advice to the company and cross-functional partners regarding retail brokerage operations and products, drafted Robinhood’s first public comment letter (on supporting diversity and inclusion in the broker-dealer industry) and served as a legal intern mentor. Before that, Cara served as an Assistant General Counsel with FINRA’s Office of General Counsel, Regulatory Practice and Policy Group in Washington, D.C., where she drafted rule filings and interpretive guidance related to FINRA’s capital markets rules, conducted research into matters of regulatory policy, and provided legal analysis related to the adoption of regulatory initiatives.
Cara began her legal career as an associate with Hughes, Hubbard & Reed LLP largely supporting the firm’s anti-corruption practice out of the Washington, D.C., and Paris offices.
