Danielle Thompson is a Director in our Associate Practice Group. Based in San Francisco, she advises associates at all levels on how to reach their career and personal goals and on which firms and next steps can help them get there. She is a confidant and helper for associates who need one and is a forever champion for associates of color and LGBTQ+ associates. She is a professional matchmaker, identifying associates and law firms that can help each other strengthen their respective practices and reach their respective goals.
Danielle is an East Bay native and mom of two. She is also a birth doula and childbirth educator and is deeply passionate about birth justice and supporting parents. In her spare time, she also enjoys running, yoga, baking, crochet, and fantasy and sci-fi books and media.
Danielle received her J.D. from Columbia Law School. She began her legal career as a labor and employment associate with Sheppard Mullin in New York and, later, San Francisco. In that role, she represented clients in federal and state court employment litigation and agency matters and provided advice and counsel to clients’ in-house counsel and HR personnel. She also developed employee handbooks, policies, employment agreements and offer letters, and various other agreements and documents, as well as conducted employment-related and anti-discrimination, harassment, and diversity and inclusion trainings.
While in law school, Danielle served as an administrative judicial intern for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in New York.
In her legal career, Danielle was a dedicated mentor to dozens of associates, particularly associates of color who identify as women. Her love of mentorship and providing emotional and professional support to junior associates is what first sparked her interest and eventual move to recruiting.
