As a Director in our Partner Practice Group, Jelani Roy focuses on placing partners and groups with global, national, regional and local law firms throughout the New York metro area.
As a native New Yorker and avid sports fan, Jelani supports the Yankees and the Knicks. However, when it comes to NFL teams, he’s a Minnesota Vikings fan. In his free time, he loves to be outdoors and enjoys weekend days in Central Park or at the beach. He also loves to travel and has visited more than 80 countries.
Jelani began his legal career as a paralegal and then summer associate with Dewey LeBouf before completing law school. After graduating law school, Jelani joined Plyfe, an automated marketing and rich media platform that uses fun mechanics to acquire, engage and influence audiences, as their chief compliance officer. In this role, he was responsible for strategy and negotiations with partners and vendors as well as identifying expansion opportunities for the early stage company.
Concurrently, Jelani followed his passion for sports and became a sports agent. Joining The Institute for Athletes, he coordinated college visits, recruiting and signing top draft picks as clients, and negotiated contracts with NFL teams and team personnel.
