Hanover, MD (September 15, 2022) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Chad Paulson as general counsel at Powin Energy Corporation. The search was conducted by Jay Kim, partner in San Francisco, and Alisa Tazioli, managing director in Seattle, both with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group.
Powin is a global leader in cost-effective, safe and scalable battery energy storage systems. Headquartered in Tualatin, Oregon, Powin was founded in 1989 as a high-quality, high-volume contract manufacturing company with a large supplier network and relationship base in Asia and North America.
Reporting to CEO Geoff Brown, Chad will serve as a key member of the executive team and be responsible for all legal, regulatory and compliance matters for Powin.

Chad is a senior-level executive with over 15 years of experience. He most recently served as senior vice president, human resources and corporate secretary at See’s Candies, a specialty candy company employing 5,000+ associates at 230 retail locations, where he oversaw learning and development, human capital management and DEI. Prior to See’s, he spent nearly 15 years with Blount International, a diversified global manufacturing and distributing business, as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Before Blount, Chad was a senior counsel with the public utility company, PacifiCorp. He began his legal career as a litigation associate with Miller Nash Graham and Dunn LLP in Portland, Oregon. Chad earned his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law and his B.S. from Oregon State University.
