MLA Places Kendall Isaac as Clark University’s First General Counsel

Hanover, MD (November 8, 2021) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Kendall Isaac as vice president, general counsel and secretary at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. The search was conducted by Heather Fine, partner in Chicago, and Nancy Reiner, partner in Boston, both with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group.

Founded in 1887, Clark was one of the first all-graduate institutions in the United States. Today the university is a highly ranked, student-centered institution educating approximately 2,350 undergraduate and 1,150 graduate students to be imaginative and contributing citizens of the world and to advance the frontiers of knowledge and understanding through rigorous scholarship and creative effort. Clark has also been included in the groundbreaking Colleges that Change Lives guide since it was first published in 1996.

Kendall will serve as the principal legal advisor for the university, with overall responsibility for the vision and leadership of the university’s legal strategy. He will act as a key strategic advisor and provide counsel to the president, Board of Trustees and other members of the university community on legal matters affecting the university and its stakeholders, including board governance.

Kendall joins Clark from Dickinson College, a liberal-arts college located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he most recently served as vice president, general counsel and assistant to the president for Special Initiatives. He has previously served as general counsel and chief of staff for Fort Valley State University within the University System of Georgia and chief legal affairs and human resources officer concurrently at Darton State College and Bainbridge State College. Before moving into higher education administration, Kendall was an assistant law professor and director of strategic planning at Appalachian School of Law and owner and principal of his own law firm, The Isaac Firm. He began his legal career as an associate at Reminger LPA in Columbus, Ohio. Kendall earned his EdD in Leadership from Columbia University, his J.D. from Capital University Law School and his B.A. from The Ohio State University.
