MLA Places Teresa Santos as Chief Compliance Officer at Phillips 66

Hanover, MD (January 9th, 2024) Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, has announced the placement of Teresa Santos as chief compliance officer at Phillips 66, the American multinational energy company. The search was conducted by Deborah Ben-Canaan, partner and global practice leader, Pete Boerner, partner, and Cara Bain, director with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting team in Washington D.C., Houston, and Basking Ridge, respectively.   

Teri, as chief compliance officer, will drive the development and implementation of worldwide, best-in-class compliance programs including standards of conduct, best practices procedures and policies, training programs, and internal monitoring and investigations. She will act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership and coordinate global compliance activities across Phillips 66.

An experienced compliance and risk executive, Teri was a most recently consultant with Hoffman Barnes Risk Management where she provided comprehensive risk assessment services including designing and implementing compliance programs for not-for- profit organizations and for-profit entities.  Previously, she was vice president and chief compliance officer with both the HollyFrontier Corporation, The Warranty Group, and Career Education Corporation.  She began her in house legal career with Eli-Lily & Company where her 14-year tenure included roles across the US and Asia Pacific, ultimately as Assistant General Counsel. 

Teri earned her J.D. from Washington University School of Law and her B.A. from Wellesley College.
