Hanover, MD (March 9, 2020) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced that Louis Ramos has joined as a managing director in the Partner Practice Group, based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Louis will rely on his extensive experience in the legal profession to advise potential candidates and clients on the lateral partner marketplace.

“As a former law firm partner, federal prosecutor, and senior in-house lawyer at a Fortune 100 company, Lou brings a unique perspective to legal recruiting,” said Laurie Caplane, senior executive director and managing partner of Law Firm Partner Search. “He will have a distinct advantage when evaluating law firms’ talent requirements and partner candidates due to his own long and successful career.”

Prior to joining MLA, Lou was a partner at DLA Piper and Morgan Lewis, where he focused on significant white-collar litigation, government and internal investigations, and compliance counseling.  Before returning to law firm practice, he was an assistant general counsel with Pfizer where he managed a team of lawyers responsible for investigations around the globe.

“I am very excited to be a part of the dynamic D.C. team of this legal industry leader,” said Lou. “I look forward to using my experience to the advantage of my lateral partner candidates as I advise them on opportunities that will help them maximize their career goals while also working with law firms to address their strategic growth objectives.”

Lou also served for over five years a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia where he was the lead prosecutor in 19 jury trials and directed numerous investigations into violations of federal and local criminal laws. While at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, he was the recipient of numerous special achievement awards and a commendation from the United States Secret Service for his work on a counterfeiting investigation.

Lou started his career as a litigation associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. He earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his B.A from Cornell University.
