Glenn McKeown placed as Argonne National Laboratory's General Counsel

Hanover, MD (January 3, 2019) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced that Glenn E. McKeown has been placed as general counsel at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois. The search was led by Heather Fine and Michael Sachs of Major, Lindsey & Africa’s In-House Practice Group in Chicago.

In his new role, Glenn will serve as the senior legal advisor for Argonne, providing legal advice and counsel on all matters affecting the lab, including government contracts, general corporate matters, complex commercial contracts, employment law, environmental law, intellectual property and technology transfer, and litigation. The nation’s first national laboratory, Argonne conducts leading-edge basic and applied research in virtually every scientific discipline to accelerate science and technology for U.S. prosperity and security. 

Prior to joining Argonne, Glenn served as associate general counsel in the University of Chicago’s Office of Legal Counsel, supporting the university’s role as manager and operator of two of the world’s premier research laboratories (Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory). During his 15-year tenure, Glenn served as a transactional attorney and interacted with academic and administrative officers of the university, providing advice on legal, policy and strategic matters as well as managing outside counsel. Prior to the University of Chicago, Glenn was a transactional attorney with Sears, Roebuck and Co. and principal legal counsel for several units of BP’s North American marketing and refining group. Glenn started his career as a judicial clerk in the Federal District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana.

Glenn has a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.A. in public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a B.A. from Columbia University.
