Hanover, MD (February 19, 2018) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, announces that it has placed Sylvia Stein as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Modine Manufacturing Company in Racine, Wisconsin. The search was led by Michael Sachs and Heather Fine of Major, Lindsey & Africa’s In-House Practice Group in Chicago.
Modine (NYSE: MOD) is a global manufacturer with operations in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. In her new role, Sylvia will serve as a legal advisor to Modine’s senior management team, business unit leaders and board of directors. She will also lead the global legal, compliance and intellectual property functions.
Before joining Modine, Sylvia was associate general counsel, marketing and regulatory at Kraft Heinz Food Company in Chicago, where she led the legal team for the U.S. retail business units, food regulatory, marketing services and data privacy functions. Prior to this, Sylvia spent 14 years at Kraft Foods, holding a series of legal roles of increasing responsibility. Earlier in her career, she was a litigation associate at Latham & Watkins in Chicago. After law school, Sylvia spent two years as a law clerk for the Honorable Ann C. Williams at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Sylvia received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was an associate editor of the Michigan Law Review.
