MLA Places Mary E. Talbott as Tennant Company’s General Counsel

Hanover, MD (February 11, 2019) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced that Mary E. Talbott has been placed as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Tennant Company in Golden Valley, Minnesota. The search was led by Heather Fine, partner with Major, Lindsey & Africa’s In-House Practice Group in Chicago.

In her new role, Mary will serve as senior legal advisor for Tennant, providing management and oversight of all global legal and product regulatory issues, including M&A transactions, global compliance and a range of other legal matters. She will also serve as corporate secretary. Tennant Company is a recognized leader of the cleaning industry, manufacturing and servicing quality sweepers, scrubbers and other floor cleaning equipment.

“Mary’s extensive experience handling a variety of legal issues throughout her career, as well as her innate leadership ability and business savvy, will serve her well as general counsel,” said Heather Fine.  “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Tennant, particularly in the securities and governance arena, and was an obvious and strong choice for the role.  We have no doubt Mary will be very successful in this position.”

Before joining Tennant, Mary spent more than 20 years in corporate and private practice. She most recently served as vice president, assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary for General Cable Corporation. Mary’s background also includes various leadership and board advisory roles with Macy’s, The E. W. Scripps Company, Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. and Cincinnati Bell. She began her career as litigator practicing with the law firms of Schletker, Hornbeck & Moore and Greenebaum, Doll & McDonald PLLC.

Mary earned her J.D. at Salmon P. Chase College of Law and her B.A. from Northern Kentucky University.
