I am energized by people and love learning their stories and what drives them. Learning about my candidates and their motivations as well as ingraining myself into the culture of my clients' organizations drives me to be fully engaged in each search and place the right candidates in the right positions of leadership. Diversity and inclusion issues are also important to me, and I endeavor to submit diverse slates for all searches.

Jay Kim is a Managing Director with the San Francisco office. She focuses on in-house searches from small private to Fortune 500 companies. Jay recruits for a wide range of positions, including IP, compliance, AGC/DGC, and general counsel roles. Since joining Major, Lindsey & Africa in April of 2011, a majority of her placements have been diversity candidates.

Jay is a member of our technology industry segment team and brings deep expertise to the recruiting needs of the sector.  She also has conducted significant searches and successful placements in life sciences, healthcare and retail, amongst other industries.

Jay was born and raised in Korea and is passionate about food, especially fusion food involving kimchi. She can be found taking advantage of the lively culinary scene in the Bay Area and beyond, from dives to fancy eateries. To balance her love of food, she enjoys yoga.

Experience

Jay started her career working as a litigator for five years, including at Gordon & Rees as an associate and with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals as a legal affairs staff attorney. After practicing law, she opened a small business and explored her creative side in music and fashion while traveling extensively. She then moved into recruiting at a major legal recruiting firm before coming over to Major, Lindsey & Africa.
