MLA Places Michael Angelo as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary with Dynex Capital, Inc.

Hanover, MD (June 3rd, 2025) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, is pleased to announce the placement of Michael Angelo as chief legal officer and corporate secretary with Dynex Capital, Inc. (NYSE: DX), a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) based in Glen Allen, Virginia.  The search was led by Allison Rosner and Kirk Coleman, both managing directors with MLA’s In-House Legal Recruiting group based in New York and Washington D.C., respectively.

Michael, reporting directly to the co-chief executive officers and working closely with the board of directors, will support Dynex’s corporate governance, securities law, public company compliance, corporate transactions, and risk management functions. He will also serve as corporate secretary, providing strategic legal counsel and helping shape the company’s legal infrastructure as it continues to grow and evolve.

“Michael brings deep public company experience, sound judgment, and a thoughtful, low-ego leadership style that aligns perfectly with Dynex’s culture,” said Allison Rosner. “His track record as a trusted advisor to boards and executive teams at high-performing financial institutions positions him well to have an immediate impact.”

“We were drawn to Michael’s unique combination of legal and leadership experience across both public and private sectors,” added Kirk Coleman. “His ability to navigate complex governance and regulatory environments while building strong relationships across the business will be a real asset to Dynex.”

Prior to joining Dynex, Michael served as assistant general counsel and assistant secretary at Capital One, where he led teams supporting corporate governance, securities law, executive compensation, and ESG reporting. Before Capital One, he held a similar leadership role at Fannie Mae, advising the board and senior leadership on governance and regulatory issues. Michael began his legal career in private practice, first with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP and later as a senior associate at Squire Patton Boggs, where he advised public companies, including REITs, on complex corporate and capital markets matters.

Michael earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School and his A.B., cum laude, in Politics from Princeton University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Lambda Legal and is active in the legal community through affiliations with the Society for Corporate Governance, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, where he was a 2019 Fellow.
