MLA Has Been Exclusively Retained by The Juilliard School to Find Its Next General Counsel

Hanover, MD (December 2, 2022) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, today announced that it has been retained by The Juilliard School to recruit its next vice president and general counsel. Deborah Ben-Canaan, partner and senior practice leader, and Craig Donaldson, managing director, both with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group, are conducting the search.

“We are honored and privileged to partner with Juilliard on this very important search for its next General Counsel. Because Juilliard is a world leader in performing arts education, it will be vital to identify an exceptional leader and professional with a solid and broad-based understanding of matters related to higher education law,” said Deborah Ben-Canaan.

“Identifying a general counsel who can thrive in a complex, international environment with the ability to manage numerous high-profile legal matters while always maintaining the level of integrity, judgement and discretion required for a leader at a highly visible, first-in-class institution will be critical for success,” said Craig Donaldson.

Founded in 1905, the school’s mission is to provide the highest caliber of artistic education for gifted musicians, dancers, actors, composers, choreographers and playwrights from around the world so that they may achieve their fullest potential as artists, leaders and global citizens. Located at Lincoln Center in New York City, Juilliard offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in dance, drama (acting and playwriting) and music (classical, jazz, historical performance and vocal arts).
