Hanover, MD (May 6, 2020) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, is pleased to announce the placement of Brian Hanigan as vice president, chief counsel - securities, governance and M&A, and assistant secretary at Colfax Corporation in Wilmington, DE. The search was conducted by Lee Udelsman, managing partner in Basking Ridge, and Edina Beasley, managing director in Washington, D.C., both of MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group.

Colfax Corporation (NYSE: CFX) is a leading diversified technology company that provides orthopedic and fabrication technology products and services to customers around the world, principally under the DJO® and ESAB brands. The company’s business has been built through a series of acquisitions as well as organic growth since its founding in 1995.

Reporting directly to Colfax’s senior vice president and general counsel, Brad Tandy, Brian will focus on public company reporting, corporate governance, M&A and compliance matters. He will also support executive compensation matters and provide legal support and advice to the Board of Directors, its committees and senior management on corporate governance matters.

“It was a pleasure working with Colfax leadership who was deeply committed to finding the right cultural and substantive fit for this critical role within the legal department,” said Edina Beasley. “Brian brings both significant legal and business acumen to the role, which he derived from his exceptional foundational training as a corporate attorney at a prominent international law firm and his extensive public company in-house role. Together, these experiences make him uniquely qualified to work closely with Colfax’s leadership to help move the company forward in this global competitive marketplace,” added Lee Udelsman.

Prior to joining Colfax, Brian spent the last five years with IDEX Corporation in Lake Forest, most recently serving as vice president, associate general counsel and assistant secretary. Brian began his legal career as a corporate associate at Skadden Arps in Chicago.

Brian earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
