Attorneys’ Liability Insurance Society Retains Major, Lindsey & Africa to Conduct Searches for a Senior Claims Counsel, Senior Loss Prevention Counsel and Director of Marketing

Diverse Candidates with Significant Experience in Private Practice Are Sought by ALAS in Chicago

Hanover, MD (April 25, 2017) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, announced that the firm has been retained to conduct three searches on behalf of Attorneys' Liability Assurance Society, Inc. (ALAS) in Chicago.

The Senior Loss Prevention Counsel reports to the Senior Vice President–Loss Prevention and will help educate ALAS law firms on issues of professional liability, law firm employment practices and management liability claims and advise the firms on risk mitigation techniques.  The Senior Loss Prevention Counsel provides counseling to ALAS's member firms, teaches innovative loss prevention and conduct periodic reviews of its firms' claims history. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively and persuasively and take a very proactive approach to practicing law. Candidates should have at least 10 years' experience in a premier law firm. The department currently employs 11 lawyers.

The Senior Claims Counsel reports to the Senior Vice President–Claims and will manage claims under ALAS's professional liability, employment liability and management liability policies. ALAS's clients are large law firms and the claims to manage are complex and sophisticated. Working closely with ALAS member firms and defense counsel, the successful candidate will provide the highest level of legal support, analysis and evaluation.  At least seven years of litigation experience in a top-tier law firm is preferred for this role. The department currently employs eight claims lawyers.

ALAS has also retained Major, Lindsey & Africa to conduct a search for a Director of Marketing. This person will play a key role in coordinating marketing efforts with the goal of enhancing ALAS's business development and retention, market and competitive intelligence, branding, public relations and communications, website and social media, and events. In addition, this professional will work with and support ALAS's management to establish a marketing and business development strategy geared to the growth of client relationships and revenues across all geographies. The Director of Marketing will report to the Senior Vice President of Member Services. He or she will also work closely with the members of the senior management group, including the CEO and General Counsel, as well as other senior leaders in the Law Firm Management Services, Loss Prevention and Claims departments, particularly on member events and education. This search is being led by Amanda Brady, global practice leader for MLA's Law Firm Management Group and Rod Osborne, managing director.
