MLA Places LaShon K. Kell as Senior Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer at Rite Aid Corporation

Hanover, MD (December 21, 2021) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of LaShon K. Kell as senior vice president, chief ethics and compliance officer at Rite Aid Corporation. The search was conducted by Elizabeth Long, managing director, and Deborah Thompson, partner, both with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group in Philadelphia.

The company provides an array of whole being health products and services through over 2,000 retail pharmacy locations across 17 states. Through Elixir, the organization provides pharmacy benefits and services to millions of members nationwide.

LaShon will oversee, enhance and drive Rite Aid’s ethics and compliance function. She will also strengthen  standards and procedures to ensure that the compliance program  across the broader organization are effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting and correcting noncompliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and ethical standards. LaShon will also coordinate the internal audit assurance function of the company.

LaShon most recently served as associate vice president and assistant general counsel at Humana, Inc., a for-profit health insurance company based in Louisville, Kentucky, where she was the leader of the investigations and employment groups responsible for conducting and supervising internal investigations and developing the employment group. She also handled litigation relating to healthcare fraud. Prior to Humana, she was an assistant general counsel and practice group head of Halliburton's anti-corruption and international compliance group. Before moving in-house, LaShon spent five years each with Bracewell LLP  as a senior counsel in the white collar and litigation group and as an associate with Venable LLP in the securities enforcement and white-collar crime group in Washington, D.C. She began her legal career as an enforcement attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. LaShon received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. from the University of Kentucky.
