MLA Places Sara Al-Haroon as General Counsel at ARO Drilling

Hanover, MD (March 30 2020) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, announced the placement of Sara Al-Haroon as general counsel and chief compliance officer at ARO Drilling in Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  The search was led by Naveen Tuli, Pete Boerner and Simon de Meo of MLA’s In-House Counsel group in Delhi, Houston and London, respectively.

As general counsel, Sara will act as key advisor to the CEO and ARO Drilling’s leadership team on all legal, compliance and regulatory issues.  She will ensure that the company’s policies and procedures are in place, adhering to the rules and the regulations of the Kingdom’s regulatory agencies and provide leadership regarding all legal and compliance issues.

“Sara is an impressive and well-qualified lawyer with strong commercial acumen,” Naveen Tuli said. “The combination of her in-depth knowledge of Saudi Sharia Law and international legal experience, coupled with her expertise of the petroleum sector, makes her an ideal fit for ARO Drilling in this challenging role.”

Sara joins ARO from Novartis, where she served as Head of Legal, Saudi Arabia.  She set up the legal department according to multinational standards and created policies to ensure proper governance across different areas of the business.  Prior to this, she was an attorney for Halliburton, providing day-to-day legal support for five countries in the Middle East and advising various business units on legal matters from commercial to labor.
