MLA Places Jenny Wang as Chief Legal officer of Champions Group

Hanover, MD (January 23, 2024) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, has announced the placement of Jenny Wang as chief legal officer of Champions Group, the premier residential home services company.  The search was led by Thanh Nguyen, managing director, Dimitri Mastrocola, partner, and Diego Ash, director, with MLA’s In House Counsel Recruiting teams in Los Angeles and New York.  

Based in Irvine, CA, Champions Group is a leading provider of essential home services specializing in heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical services, with 19 brands located in California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Colorado, Texas, and Ohio. Champions Group is a portfolio company of Odyssey Investment Partners, a leading New York-based private equity investment firm with more than a 25-year history of transforming middle-market companies into successful businesses.

As Champions’ chief legal officer, Jenny will serve as a critical resource and strategic partner to the CEO, CFO, and leadership at all levels of the company.  She will manage legal and compliance matters, including advising senior leadership on other strategic transactions.

Jenny joins from Thai Union North America, the fully owned subsidiary of publicly traded Thai Union Group PCL, where she served as vice president of legal and risk management.  There she headed the North American legal and risk management teams for the global seafood conglomerate.  Prior to this, she was general counsel with MerchSource, which distributes products under its in-house and licensed brands, including FAO Schwarz, Discovery Kids, Animal Planet, Sharper Image, and Vornado.  Earlier in her in-house career she was general counsel with seating manufacturer Exemplis Corporation and corporate counsel with Sybron Dental Specialties, a Danaher dental platform.  She began her legal career as a finance associate with Am Law 100 law firm Latham & Watkins in its Los Angeles office.

 She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and her B.A. from Stanford University.
