MLA Places Miguel Garrido de las Heras as Global General Counsel at Phoenix Tower International

Hanover, MD (September 7, 2022) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Miguel Garrido de las Heras as senior vice president, global general counsel at Phoenix Tower International. The search was conducted by Melba Hughes, partner, executive director & national in-house diversity practice leader, and Craig Donaldson, director, both with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group.

With headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida USA, Phoenix Tower International has built a presence across the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. Through its affiliates and subsidiaries, PTI owns and operates over 22,000 telecom towers globally.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, Miguel will serve as a strategic business partner to CEO Dagan Kasavana. He will lead and manage the legal, compliance and asset management departments and oversee a legal team of approximately 75 team members, including a U.S. general counsel, a LATAM general counsel, a European general counsel, and local counsel in 19 countries.

Miguel is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in M&A, securities law, infrastructure and general corporate matters, both in-house and at international law firms. Prior to joining PTI, Miguel spent the last six years as general counsel, chief legal officer, head of compliance and secretary to the board for Telxius, a global digital telecommunications infrastructure operator. Before Telxius, he spent eight years as head of the M&A, commercial and financing of the legal department of the Telefónica Group, S.A and five years as director of legal affairs – mergers & acquisitions for Telefónica Móviles. Before moving in-house, he was an associate with both Allen & Overy and CMS Spain. Miguel earned his law degree from the Universidad Carlos III – Madrid.
