What attracted you to Major, Lindsey & Africa?

My cousin worked for MLA at the time and suggested I apply for an opening with the Chicago team. From the moment I walked into Conference Room A for my first interview, I knew I had found my people. I interviewed with Kirsten Vasquez, Christa Ford and Beth Woods, and they were so welcoming and personable. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt!

What is the best part of your job?

The positive impact we can have on our candidates’ lives.

What is the most surprising part of being a recruiter?

How truly life changing some of our placements can be for our candidates. I am consistently blown away by the number of candidates who reach out to thank us for setting not only their career paths but their live on a completely new trajectory (for the better).

How would you describe your career in 5 words or less?

  1. Challenging (in a good way)
  2. Rewarding
  3. Fulfilling
  4. Interesting
  5. Fun

Describe one of your successes thus far at Major, Lindsey & Africa:

This past year, we had a client call us on a Thursday afternoon. They had an urgent need to hire an interim attorney to start the following Monday. Within less than six hours, we had submitted three qualified candidates. The client interviewed two candidates on Friday, and we were able to onboard the winning candidate over the weekend to ensure a successful start date on Monday. In less than two business days, we launched a search, submitted several high caliber candidates and placed the finalist. Talk about teamwork!

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a recruiter?

I don’t think anyone dreams of becoming a legal recruiter when they’re little (no judgement if these folks are out there!), but I do feel like it was a happy accident I fell into this line of work. If you’re interested in learning more about legal recruiting, I’m happy to chat one-on-one!

If you weren’t a lawyer or a recruiter, what career would you have had?

When I was little, I desperately wanted to be a TV star! To this day, I still harbor a grudge against my parents for not allowing me to attend an audition for All That, a sketch comedy show for kids on Nickelodeon. I also dreamt of being an anchor on the TODAY Show. It’s a hard pass on the 3am wake-up time though. I need my beauty sleep!

What is on your bucket list?

I love exploring National Parks and have always wanted to visit Glacier National Park. I would love to cross that one off the list soon.
