Name: Elena Bajada
Astrological Sign: Leo
Year Joined Major, Lindsey & Africa: 2016

What attracted you to Major, Lindsey & Africa?

The people – locally and internationally. The ability to be a part of a small family in London whilst being part of a much larger and incredibly accomplished global team.

What is the best part of your job?

I believe we are the best in-house team in EMEA. With our diverse work backgrounds and different networks and specialisms, we have an incredibly capable first-rate team that enjoys working on the most sought-after mandates in the region. When the going gets tough, the satisfaction of working with our incredible team gets me out of bed in the morning.

How would you describe your career in 5 words or less?

A satisfying challenge!

Describe one of your successes thus far at Major, Lindsey & Africa.

I thoroughly enjoy developing junior team members and managing our in-house associates’ progression. The recent promotion of one of our team associates to senior associate was definitely a highlight of my time thus far with MLA.

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a recruiter?

I have learnt (through my most successful recruitment colleagues at MLA) that a true love for learning— about people, about subject matters, about the types of relationships people value—is a non-negotiable in the industry. Being inquisitive lends itself to many professions, but none more so than recruitment, or being a lawyer.

If you weren’t a lawyer or a recruiter, what career would you have had?

I would like to think that I would have made it as a fashion designer! I’ve also always loved English literature, so I could have happily pursued a career in the arts. I never regret my choice of the law, however!

What is on your bucket list?

I can’t and have never been skiing before. I intend to tick that off my bucket list next!
