What attracted you to Major, Lindsey & Africa?

The culture and the opportunity to work for the best and biggest brand in the legal industry.

What is the best part of your job?

The opportunity to help change peoples’ lives.  I’ve had the privilege to hear from both consultants and clients that our hard work changed their lives for the better and nothing can beat that feeling.  I take pride in our work and our matchmaking skills. I truly believe we improve the legal industry as a whole.

What is the most surprising part of being a recruiter?

The importance of listening. You have to truly listen to what your candidates are looking for in new opportunities and ,in turn, listen to your clients and their needs.

How would you describe your career in 5 words or less?

Blessing, evolving, challenging.

Describe one of your successes thus far at Major, Lindsey & Africa.

I joined the company as an Administrator when my older daughter was only three months old.  I was truly interested in joining as a Recruiter, but I was worried that given my home life I wouldn’t be able to succeed in a recruiting capacity at that time.  A year later, I was promoted to a Director of Recruiting, and a few years later, I was given the opportunity to progress into a Business Development role, which is my true passion.

This is not only my success; this is the success of our company.  The fact that my colleagues wrapped me in support and helped me develop and grow within the company is one of our great success stories.  This is a true team effort and I believe that to be our biggest success story together.

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a recruiter?

Be patient with yourself and your candidates, clients and colleagues.  A lot of things will go wrong, many doors won’t open, but believe in yourself and this process that many created before you and know that you only need one yes, one “we’d like to hire your candidate”, one ball bouncing in your court (as one of my favorite bosses says).  Keep your faith in what we do daily and the results will come naturally.

If you weren’t a lawyer or a recruiter, what career would you have had?

Fashion designer.

What is on your bucket list?

To see the Northern Lights, visit Alaska and go skydiving.
