People make assumptions about blonde-haired, blue-eyed Michael Rhodes, partner with Cooley LLP, and his perceived white privilege. But Mike has a long history with learning from experiences that push him out of his comfort zone and immerse him in different cultures. In this episode of B.S.: Beyond Stereotypes, Mike uses storytelling to demonstrate to Merle Vaughn why he believes diverse legal teams are imperative in big law.
Michael G. Rhodes currently is Global Chair of Cooley LLP's cyber/data/privacy and internet practice groups and formerly was the Global Chair of the Firm's Litigation Department and a member of the firm's Management Committee.
He is nationally recognized as a leading trial lawyer for innovators and disruptors, including Google, Facebook (Meta), the Kardashians, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Noom, Irving Azoff, Microsoft, Zoom, Plaid, Coinbase, the Golden State Warriors, Niantic (PokémonGo), and Turo. Mr. Rhodes has been lead trial counsel for Facebook in 4 jury trials (settling one during trial and obtaining winning verdicts in the other three). In April 2022, Mr. Rhodes was lead counsel for the Kardashian-Jenner family in the high-profile celebrity trial involving claims of defamation brought by Angela White (aka Blac Chyna) - obtaining a complete jury win.
