Hanover, MD (June 26, 2019) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Don Walther as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at TopBuild (NYSE: BLD) in Daytona Beach, FL.  The search was led by Melba Hughes, a partner in MLA’s In-House Counsel Practice Group in Atlanta.

In his new role, Don will be overseeing the development and execution of TopBuild’s legal strategy and operations that support the company’s business plans, advising on all major transactions, commercial contracts, litigation, labor, product liability issues and other critical initiatives. Don will also be responsible for the company’s compliance program and serve as corporate secretary. TopBuild Corporation is the leading installer and distributor of insulation products to the U.S. construction industry.

“A highly competitive search with a rigorous assessment process, TopBuild was seeking a public company lawyer and a true business partner to collaborate with the senior leadership team,” said Melba Hughes. “Don was the perfect match for the company!  He is a talented general counsel with an exemplary track record of developing high-performing teams; he has a singular focus on finding solutions for his business. He is an excellent cultural match for TopBuild.”

“I am delighted to join TopBuild as their General Counsel,” said Don.  “I particularly appreciated working with Melba and her team—their investment in learning about the company and its culture was apparent throughout the process.”
