Barry Freedman, a Managing Director in our Partner Practice Group, works with law firms and law firm partners to guide them through the lateral process and help them make strategic decisions to improve their practices and the firms’ growth initiatives.

Barry grew up in Springfield, MA (home of the Basketball Hall of Fame) and has been living in the metro Boston area since law school. He is a die-hard Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Bruins fan and has tried to impress upon his son, two daughters, his wife (and his Black Lab) that these teams do not win championships every year. Barry enjoys working out, cooking and landscaping (i.e., constantly attacking weeds in his yard).

A seasoned Boston legal recruiter, Barry has spent more than 20 years working with law firms and in-house legal departments to develop talent recruitment strategies for lateral partner and associate needs as well as in-house counsel positions. Most recently, he served as director for legal recruiting for Stone Legal Recruiting, and prior to that, he was vice president of Hoffman Recruiters’ Legal Division. Barry began his recruiting career with Group Magellan Attorney Placement in Boston.

Barry spent more than 10 years in legal practice in Boston. As a business litigator, he represented national real estate developers in zoning and land use matters, antitrust, employment, banking and contract actions and helped to defend attorneys in disciplinary matters before the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers. During this time, he was also appointed discovery master to the Suffolk Superior Court to review pleadings, hear oral arguments and render reports relating to discovery disputes over the construction multi-million-dollar financing of the Boston Garden (now TD Garden).
