MLA Places Brendan St. Amant as Vice President, Head of Legal at Synlogic, Inc.

Hanover, MD (July 12, 2021) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Brendan St. Amant as vice president, head of legal at Synlogic, Inc. in Cambridge, Mass. The search was conducted by Amy Katz, managing director and Robert Mannino, director, both in MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group in Boston.

Brendan will lead Synlogic’s legal function; work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders; collaborate closely with the legal, business and executive teams; and have broad oversight responsibilities, including corporate transactional, contract management, corporate governance, SEC, and compliance/regulatory matters.

Synlogic is a publicly traded clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that is bringing the transformative potential of synthetic biology to medicine. Brendan most recently served as vice president, Legal at Ohana Biosciences, Inc., a clinical-stage, commercializing company, advising the board of directors, executives and colleagues across a variety of complex business, legal and compliance matters. Prior to Ohana, he spent several years with Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc., a global biotechnology company creating transformative medicines for people with serious and life-threatening diseases, as director and senior counsel. Before going in-house, Brendan was a partner with Donnelly, Conroy & Gelhaar, LLP in their Complex Commercial Litigation and Government Enforcement practices and an associate with Goodwin Procter LLP. He began his legal career clerking for The Hon. Alvin W. Thompson, Chief, U.S. District Court in Hartford, Connecticut. Brendan earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, his M.P.P. from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and his B.A. from Cornell.
